Essential

The only cookies we set ourselves are the ones that keep you signed in to your account. If you never create an account, we set none.

Storage on your device, which is not a cookie

Your quiz answers, identity, sub-vibe, unlock status and saved fragrances are kept in your browser's own storage, and on your phone in the app. It stays on your device, it is not sent with every request the way a cookie is, and clearing it is in your hands. When you vote on a fragrance, that storage also keeps your vote and a random code, so that changing your vote replaces it instead of counting twice. It also remembers which fragrances your current reading has shown you, so that what you do with them is counted once, and only for those.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use third-party cookies and does not track individuals across sites. Visitor counts are aggregated at the page level.

We also record a short list of anonymous product events on our own servers, such as starting or finishing the quiz. They use no cookie and carry no account, email or device identifier, and they are deleted after 13 months. See section 2 of our Privacy Policy.

Third-party

Stripe sets cookies during checkout for fraud prevention. These are necessary for payment processing.

The app

The OLFACTA app sets no cookies. It sends the same anonymous product events and votes as the site, none of them linked to you. Everything else it keeps is kept on your phone.

Managing them

You can clear your browser storage at any time through your browser settings, and delete the app to clear what it kept. Either removes the saved data on that device. To remove what is in your account as well, delete the account from your account settings.
