01
short, free, and not one perfume in it
you are asked about trail, weather, texture and how you want to be remembered. naming a bottle you already own would only return more of it.
about
fragrance recommendations are lists. best-sellers, trending, whatever sells.
none of them asks who you are before telling you what to wear.
olfacta reverses the order: it reads you first, and only then brings perfumes.
the method
01
you are asked about trail, weather, texture and how you want to be remembered. naming a bottle you already own would only return more of it.
02
soft, warm, bold, fresh, dark. a reading is a position on those five, which is why two people in the same identity are not sent the same perfumes.
03
each one measured on the same five, from its own notes and accords. the edit is what sits nearest your position, in order of distance. a sponsored placement never enters that order.
taste moves, so a reading is re-read, not filed. every version stays.
what olfacta is not
a shop. nothing is sold here. if a link ever earns olfacta a commission, it will say so, and it will never be the reason it is there.
a scoreboard. no perfume is rated out of ten. a fragrance is right for a person or it isn't.
a personality test. the six identities describe taste, not character, and none of them is the good one.
a feed. there is no infinite scroll and nothing arrives to be caught up on. the week has one issue.
a verdict. the reading narrows the catalogue to a handful worth your skin. skin decides, so sample first.
a dupe finder. the cousin is not the cheap copy. it is the scent next door, and sometimes it costs less.
what each one measures
the lab. it reads both formulas for shared material and neighbouring families, and it is deterministic: the same pair always scores the same. it is not chemistry, it can be wrong, and skin has the last word. when it is wrong, telling us is what moves the rule.
the cousin. a cousin has to beat the original on the thing you asked for, not merely cost less. if nothing beats it on that axis, nothing is shown.
the issue. one edition a week, and it is the same for everyone: the communal half of olfacta, where your reading is the personal one. it never decides what is recommended to you. that comes from your reading alone.
the notes. a note is listed where the pyramid puts it: top, heart, base. that order is what lets us say how something opens and how it dries down, and it is all we take from it. it is not a lab analysis.
what each one measures, and what it does not, is set out in the terms.
